Referring a matter is not giving it away. It is making sure the client gets the practitioner the case actually requires — and that you are not carrying a file that does not fit your practice.
The case is hard
Difficult liability, a hostile venue, a well-funded defendant, or facts that demand a lawyer who has tried cases like it before.
You would rather not litigate
Not every practice wants to carry a file through motions, depositions and trial. Place it with a practice built entirely for that.
The time and cost are too much
Complex matters consume years, staff and capital. Referring lets you serve the client without absorbing the burden.
It is outside your practice area
A good client brings you a matter you do not handle. Keep the relationship and place the case with the right practitioner.
You need firepower, not a handoff

Everyone else passed on it
A case turned down elsewhere is not always a case without value. Capacity, cost and appetite are not the same thing as merit.
Fee sharing and referral fees
How fees work in this network
The Bengal Referral Network receives no fee of any kind. Imdad Rahman is a law student, not a licensed attorney, and does not and cannot participate in the division of any legal fee. Introductions are made at no cost, and no compensation, commission or finder’s fee is accepted from any attorney, firm or client.
Any fee sharing occurs solely between the referring attorney and the receiving attorney. Participating attorneys are expected to comply with all applicable California State Bar rules at the outset of any retention, including full written disclosure to the client and the client’s written consent to the division of fees.
The percentage of any referral fee is determined by the attorneys themselves on a case-by-case basis, accounting for the unique factors of each matter — liability, damages, collectibility, the stage of the case and the work each attorney contributes.
Every matter is unique and no outcome is guaranteed. What this network offers is a direct introduction to trial attorneys with the experience and resources to add real value to a case — for the benefit of both the client and the referring attorney.

Most referral relationships only want fresh files. This one does not. A matter can be handed over — or reinforced with co-counsel — at nearly any point through verdict.

Every attorney in the network is an independent, licensed practitioner selected for trial experience in their area.

If you were hurt, fired, mistreated or forced to live in conditions no one should accept, you can send your matter through the same form. We will review it and, where there is a fit, introduce you to an independent attorney in the network who handles that work.
There is no cost for the introduction, and whether you hire the attorney is entirely your decision.
